Groundbreaking on the first hotel at WestGate@Crane Technology Park will take place Wednesday in Odon. Officials say the $7 million Sleep Inn and Mainstay-branded hotel will employ more than 20. Owners Mike and Debbie Hicks also own the Comfort Suites in French Lick and the Legend of French Lick Resort Boutique Hotel and Event Center.

The new hotel is situated just west of the Battery Innovation Center. Plans include 72 units, meeting space, a business center and fitness center. Green County Economic Development Corp. Executive Director Brianne Jerrels says "this new hotel will serve the park, the tens of thousands of people that attend various events at WestGate Academy each year, the BIC’s global clientele and initiatives, NSWC Crane and the greater southern Indiana region along the Interstate 69 Corridor."

WestGate@Crane Technology Park first broke ground in 2005 and is the only tech park in the state that includes parts of three counties (Daviess, Greene and Martin).
