The $50 million, 197,000-square-foot multi-use facility will replace the Swine Barn at the Indiana State Fairgrounds and Event Center.
The commission says construction will start after this year’s fair and will be completed for the 2023 Indiana State Fair.
“We couldn’t be more grateful to Governor Holcomb, the Indiana General Assembly, and our corporate partner, Indiana Farm Bureau, for supporting this transformational project, said Cindy Hoye, Indiana State Fair Commission executive director. “This is the last of our major livestock buildings to be renovated and will help us bring even more compelling events, including large sporting events, to Indiana.”
The commission says it aims to attract a variety of events to the pavilion, which is already slated to host the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championship.
“Indiana Farm Bureau is a strong supporter of youth engagement and education across our state,” said Randy Kron, Indiana Farm Bureau president. “I can think of no better place to educate the next generation about agriculture than at the new Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion. Farm Bureau and Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance are proud to be a part of this great day.”
The facility will be under construction during the 2022 Indiana State Fair, but the commission says plans are underway to host the Indiana State Fair 4-H and Open Swine Shows in another location on the grounds.
Indiana State Fair Commission Executive Director Cindy Hoye recently appeared on Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick to talk about this project and the future of the fairgrounds.
