Goodwill Expanding Re-Entry Program

The program, which is supported by a nearly $7 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. in Indianapolis, will be offered at additional Goodwill sites throughout Indy.
Goodwill says the program is designed to meet the needs of individuals re-entering Hoosier communities after incarceration.
The nonprofit says the program will feature 8-10 individuals in each cohort and approximately 10 cohorts each year. Goodwill says the additional locations will help remove barriers to those who do not live near its Tremont facility, where the program is currently offered.
“The goal of New Beginnings is to transition participants from entry-level work at Goodwill to a skilled, in-demand career in the community,” said Trelles Evans, director of reentry services at Goodwill. “With funding from Lilly Endowment, Goodwill can expand the program’s offerings as well as the number of individuals served.”
The program includes support such as assistance with professional skills, housing, and healthcare, among others.
To date, nearly 250 individuals have completed the program. With the expansion, the nonprofit says it expects to serve 100 individuals annually.
