Optum says the first phase is a 25,000 square-foot facility, which will be owned by Muncie Investors LLC, who will lease the space to Optum and a subsidiary. Optum Vice President for Development LaRae Eggleston says the goal is to provide more health care choices to Delaware County residents.
“A lot of visiting specialists have rotated through that primary care suite, and there’s been a need for several years for a stronger presence. In listening to our patients, they don’t want to drive all the way to Indianapolis. They need more of these services locally. ‘What is the greatest need?’ drives what goes into these plans,” said Eggleston.
Eggleston says the new facility will join two established American Health Network/Optum medical offices in Delaware County: family practice physician offices and its eye clinic.
“The new building we’re developing is going to be a multi-specialty medical office building. Orthopedic surgery, podiatry, oncology and eye physicians, surgeons and ophthalmologists,” said Eggleston.
Other services to be offered at the new facility include gastrointestinal and colonoscopies, along with a outpatient surgery center.
Construction is set to begin this spring with expected completion in spring 2022.
