NIPSCO Signs Deal for Sullivan County Solar Farm

Subscribe NowMerrillville-based Northern Indiana Public Service Co. says it has signed a build transfer agreement with Invenergy LLC, a Chicago-based developer of solar and wind farms, for a new solar project in Sullivan County.
Invenergy will construct the 250-megawatt Fairbanks Solar farm and NIPSCO will enter a joint venture once construction is complete.
The project is expected to be operational in fall 2023.
“Invenergy’s partnership with NIPSCO for the Fairbanks Solar project is a significant step in bringing more affordable, clean energy to Indiana,” said Ted Romaine, senior vice president at Invenergy. “We are pleased to support NIPSCO’s continued investment in renewable energy while also delivering significant economic benefits to Sullivan County.”
NIPSCO, a subsidiary of NiSource (NYSE: NI) says the project will support up to 250 jobs during the construction period.
The utility says it has requested the addition of this new project to its supply portfolio in filings with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. The company expects to announce additional renewable projects in the coming weeks.
