As fiscal year 2019 ended, the university says it had received $41.4 million from 15,823 donors. Butler says it was the second-highest fundraising total over the past decade. “This level of generosity demonstrates the incredible loyalty of our alumni, faculty, staff, and community, and the commitment we share to advancing Butler’s mission of providing the highest quality liberal arts education,” says Butler President James Danko.
Danko says construction of the new building for the Lacey School of Business was a landmark achievement. Twelve donor families each made $1 million gifts toward the project.
In June, Butler’s Board of Trustees approved a $100 million renovation and expansion of the sciences complex. The university says $27 million of the $42 million fundraising goal has already been raised.
“Philanthropic partners are making a difference in the lives of our students every day by establishing scholarships, providing resources for our outstanding faculty, investing in state-of-the-art facilities, and supporting community partnerships that enrich student learning,” says Jonathan Purvis, vice president for university advancement.
Butler says donations came not only from graduates and friends of the university but also from faculty members and staff. Fifty-nine percent of Butler employees donated $1,042,196. In raw numbers, 599 faculty and staff donors gave a financial gift, up from 424 in FY18.
