Fort Wayne city officials hope a new 136-room hotel overlooking the city’s minor league ballpark will be a big hit for the economy. A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for Thursday morning at the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton. Merrillville-based developer White Lodging Services Inc. built the hotel adjacent to Parkview Field and the Grand Wayne Convention Center.

The hotel, which broke ground in June 2018, promises amenities in line with Hilton’s upper-midscale brand including a walk-up Burger Bar restaurant and an indoor/outdoor rooftop bar.

Twenty five percent of the hotel’s 136 guestrooms will be oversized suites offering views of downtown and the ballpark where the Fort Wayne TinCaps play.

Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry, representatives from White Lodging and other guests will officially open the hotel with a ribbon cutting and first guest check-in.

Officials will also unveil a statue of a local legend to mark the official opening of the hotel.
