Coffee Pouch Maker Coming to Westfield

Grinds LLC plans to invest $6.7 million to relocate its global headquarters from California to the Hamilton County city and create 56 jobs. Grinds says it will consolidate its production, fulfillment and distribution operations in Westfield, with plans to be operational in July. Chief Operating Officer Ken Warren says the city was an "easy choice" for the new headquarters, and says the site will allow for future expansion as well.
Grinds produces flavored coffee pouches infused with vitamins, originally designed as a healthy alternative to tobacco for major League Baseball players. Warren tells Inside INdiana Business the product has also become popular among some Millennials as an "energy jolt." The company says each can contains about 18-20 energy pouches and the caffeine equivalent of 4-5 cups of coffee.
"We are excited to have the Grinds team making its home in Westfield," said Westfield Mayor Andy Cook in a news release. "We welcome the investment, the jobs and their spirit of innovation and community-service."
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. has offered Grinds up to $300,000 in conditional tax credits and training grants, based on the company’s job creation plans. The city of Westfield has also approved personal property tax abatement on the investment.
Warren says the company is seeing demand grow for its product.
