The groups invited include Ball State University, Purdue Polytechnic Institute, Ivy Tech Community College and Sustainable Muncie Corp.
Sustainable Muncie Corp. is a nonprofit that operates MadJax, which is Muncie’s downtown makerspace. The foundation says the money will target collaborative efforts to boost programming in the building and efforts to support K-12 students and adults looking to earn additional job credentials and training.
Ball Brothers Foundation President Jud Fisher says many Delaware County employers have openings going unfilled. He says the organization’s funding will make sure job seekers have the skills needed to fill those positions and "create pathways for students who will be entering the workforce in the coming years.
Initial proposals from the organizations invited to apply are due in February, with funding decisions planned in June.
