McRobbie Touts IU’s ‘Vital’ Role in The State

IU is gearing up to mark the bicentennial of its founding next year. During his 12th State of the University address, McRobbie updated progress of the $3 billion IU For All Bicentennial Campaign, reporting $2.6 billion has been raised to-date.
"As the state’s flagship and namesake public institution of higher education, Indiana University has a special responsibility to the people of Indiana to provide an education of the highest quality and produce graduates in areas of importance to the state and nation," said McRobbie. "IU continues to do this in an exemplary fashion, educating more Hoosiers than ever before — including in a growing number of professional and specialized areas that are essential to Indiana’s economy."
He discussed multiple accomplishments throughout the last academic year, which include a record-breaking total for private individual and institutional philanthropy — $550.1 million — and the second-highest total in school history from external funding for research and other activities — $604 million. McRobbie also noted more students received degrees from the system’s seven campuses — over 21,000 — than ever before. IU Bloomington, IUPUI and IU Kokomo drove the record with high marks on their respective campuses.
