Lynn Reecer has launched the nonprofit Northeast Indiana Talent Attraction Inc. (NEINTA) to help companies sell the region to job candidates and their families. She says it’s a daunting challenge for area businesses and efforts often fall short when trying to lure an out-of-town candidate.
Reecer likens the nonprofit’s efforts to a “concierge service”; NEINTA talks with candidates over the phone to learn about their interests, their family’s lifestyle and what they’re looking for in their potential new hometown. When they arrive to the Fort Wayne region for the job interview, Reecer says “we can show them what they really care about.”
The organization prefers to meet with a candidate before the job interview for their “personalized recruitment tour,” so companies can focus more on selling the job. The nonprofit says it has attracted more than $10 million in annual salaries to the region since beginning its efforts in 2010. Area companies have signed on as founding sponsors, including Franklin Electric, Steel Dynamics and Aptera.
Reecer is also a realtor and moved to Fort Wayne when her husband had a new job opportunity; she says the experience made her realize there was an unmet need for talent recruitment in northeast Indiana.
