The Indiana delegation led by Governor Eric Holcomb is continuing its economic development efforts in Europe, now focusing on central Europe and companies that have a Hoosier presence. The team traveled to Switzerland to meet with companies including Nestle and Roche Holding AG.

Nestlé is the world’s largest food and beverage company, with five production, bottling and distribution facilities in Anderson, Fort Wayne, Greenwood and Indianapolis. The Anderson campus, which opened in 2008, is one of Nestlé’s largest factories in the U.S.

The group also visited the Roche Holding AG headquarters. Indianapolis is home to Roche Diagnostics Corporation’s North American headquarters, which employs about 3,000 people on campus. Roche says the company has invested millions in the campus over the past five years.

“We’re thankful for the positive impact [Nestle and Roche] continue to have on our communities,” says Holcomb. “I was also glad to pitch Indiana for more Swiss investment. There are over 11,000 Hoosiers employed by Swiss businesses, and the welcome mat is always out for more partnership for growth."

First Lady Janet Holcomb joined the governor in Austria to tour Fronius’ global headquarters. Fronius USA relocated its North American headquarters from Michigan to Portage, Indiana. The state is home to 12 Austrian companies, including Danzer North America, Emarsys North America, Fronius USA, Red Bull Distribution and Voestalpine.

The team also dined with the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO) to discuss opportunities to grow collaboration, investment and trade between Indiana and Austria.

The delegation includes First Lady Janet Holcomb, Indiana Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger, House Speaker Brian Bosma (R-88) and Cheryl Bosma, and Senate President Pro Tempore David Long (R-16) and Melissa Long. Martin Baier, president and chief executive officer of The International Center, will join the delegation in Germany and France, which are the next stops on the governor’s sixth international economic development trip.
