The stores are among 42 that parent company The Bon-Ton Stores Inc. is shuttering as part of its "store rationalization program."
The Wisconsin-based company is partnering with a third-party liquidator, Hilco Merchant Resources, to manage closing sales at the affected stores. Those sales are expected to begin Thursday and continue for 10 to 12 weeks.
The Indiana Carson’s locations that will close include:
- Mounds Mall – Anderson
- Fair Oaks Mall – Columbus
- Concord Mall – Elkhart
- Circle Centre Mall – Indianapolis
- Five Points Mall – Marion
"As part of the comprehensive turnaround plan we announced in November, we are taking the next steps in our efforts to move forward with a more productive store footprint," said Bill Tracy, chief executive officer for The Bon-Ton Stores. "Including other recently announced store closures, we expect to close a total of 47 stores in early 2018. We remain focused on executing our key initiatives to drive improved performance in an effort to strengthen our capital structure to support the business going forward."
Bon-Ton says employees at the affected stores will have the opportunity to interview for available positions at other locations.
The company previously announced the closure of five stores, four of which were completed this month with the fifth taking place in February. No Indiana stores were included in that round of closings. You can connect to the full list of store closings by clicking here.
