Pacers Sports and Entertainment has announced how the Indianapolis bid for the 2021 NBA All-Star Game Weekend will be delivered to the league’s New York office. The organization says the hand-off on Monday will involve President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird in a retro-fitted IndyCar. Monday is the deadline for the submission.

The game was last held in Indianapolis at the old Hoosier Dome in 1985, a game that broke the attendance record. During a news conference during an NBA game played in London in January, Commissioner Adam Silver said Indianapolis could make a case to be "top of the list" for an All-Star Game, based on Pacers owner Herb Simon’s interest in the event and his past leadership roles in professional basketball. At the time, Silver also said it’s "highly likely" Indianapolis would host another game at some point, but logistical issues such as which date and the possibility of hosting it at "a larger arena" would still need to be ironed out.
