Steff: $1 Billion Innovation Initiative Paying Dividends

Subscribe NowIndiana’s chief innovation officer says former Governor Mike Pence’s $1 billion Entrepreneurship and Innovation Initiative, although still being considered by the state legislature, is already paying big dividends for Indiana. During an interview with Inside INdiana Business, Ian Steff said he’s seen industry-driven partnerships alongside the university community increase around the state.
"Industry around the state and around the nation are choosing to engage in partnerships with our research universities here in Indiana because of the long-term vision of Governor Holcomb in the $1 billion Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative," said Steff.
Steff says some of those partnerships lie in strategic sectors around the state including energy storage, advanced materials and autonomous transportation, adding that Internet of Things and cybersecurity are at the forefront, specifically for the tech community.
"We are already seeing partnerships form around the state in those strategic sectors. With the promise of bringing industry at the forefront of these road maps to determine what are the next steps to take Indiana to the next level."
