Construction began on the hotel in late 2015. It includes a restaurant, bar and lounge, exercise facility, pool, event and meeting space and a parking garage with nearly 570 spaces. The hotel is connected by a sky bridge to the Ford Center and Old National Events Plaza, and is next door to the under-construction Indiana University Medical School.
Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke will take part in the ribbon cutting on Tuesday, February 14. The hotel is owned by HCW Evansville Hotel LLC and managed by Aimbridge Hospitality.
A previous plan had called for a 10-floor hotel as well as apartments, but the loss of key funding and other challenges led to developers scaling back the scope of the project from a well over $70 million price tag.
