(PSSI) says 76 workers are being affected by the termination of a contract at the Indiana Packers Corp. facility in Delphi. In a notice to the state, the company said the move will result in the layoff or relocation of the workers at the plant.
PSSI said it recently received “unforeseen notice” from the Indiana Packers Corp. that it had decided to end the contract, effective Dec. 8. The contractor had provided sanitization service at the plant since March 2016.
The affected workers are not represented by a union and do not have bumping rights.
However, PSSI said all employees at the Delphi location will be offered a job transfer to another plant in the area serviced by the company.
PSSI provides contract sanitation services for more than 725 plants and employs more than 16,500 workers, including food sanitors, microbiologists, and technical experts across its entire footprint.
