During last weekend’s homecoming reunion event, the school kicked off the ‘For Good’ campaign, the institution’s most ambitious fundraising effort in its 175-year history.
Earlham also formally inaugurated Houtmann, three years after she was selected to lead the private, liberal arts college in Richmond. The school says the global pandemic delayed the ceremony.
During her address, Houtmann said now is the time to envision the resources needed to grow the college.
“We have combined the very best of a liberal arts education with outstanding teaching and learning experiences that inspire and prepare students to become catalysts for good in a changing world,” said Houtmann.
The school says the campaign has three priorities: establish endowed scholarships and grow recruitment efforts, expand funding for Earlham’s Epic Journey program which supports off-campus and learning abroad opportunities, and create an endowed fund for students who struggle to pay for college.
“The For Good campaign is motivated by our belief that these opportunities should be available to a wider audience, so we can be an even stronger spark for good in the world,” said Kim Tanner, vice president for institutional advancement. “We invite our worldwide network of alumni and friends to join us and invest in the success of the next generation of students.”
The For Good Campaign is slated to wrap up on June 30, 2024.
