Officials from the city of Indianapolis, Indy Parks and Recreation and Indy Parks Foundation will break ground Monday on the nearly $10 million project.
The state-of-the-art performance center will become the home for the theater troupe, known as Indy Shakes.
In 2017, Indy Parks and Rec completed a Master Plan for Riverside Regional Park, which included the restoration of the Thomas Taggart Memorial as an outdoor amphitheater. According to the Indianapolis Parks Foundation, the goal is to turn Riverside Park into a regional draw for live theater, musical concerts and movies.
The project is possible because of a gift from Lilly Endowment.
