The FCC is allowing Allen Media Broadcasting LLC, a division of Entertainment Studios, Inc., to take ownership of WEVV (CBS) & WEEV (Fox) in Evansville. The sale also includes two TV stations in Louisiana owned by Texas-based Bayou City Broadcasting.
Entertainment Studios is one of the largest producers and distributors of film and television content, but this purchase of the Indiana stations is the company’s first foray into local broadcasting stations.
Byron Allen, founder and chief executive officer of Entertainment Studios, said in a news release, "This is another milestone for our company, as we have now agreed to purchase our very first broadcast television stations and continue to look for other opportunities to grow our global media company through strategic acquisitions."
The company also owns The Weather Channel.
