The new program aims to prepare teachers for elementary, middle school and high school theatre and dramatic arts programs.
Theatre Education will operate from the School of Teacher Education and the School of Arts and Humanities.
The institution says when the program reaches its full size three to five years, it is expected to enroll as many students as IWU’s smaller secondary education majors such as Spanish, Art, or Physical and Health Education.
“We are passionate about theatre and teaching so we are excited to offer a degree that combines them!” said Katie Wampler, associate professor of theatre, in a news release.
