Pop-Up Gen Con will feature pre-release copies of new games from major publishers being delivered to 40 games stores throughout the country, giving attendees the chance to play and pre-order the games before they hit the market.
The effort will also include in-store experiences that will create space for people to play the early copies of the game, as well as video content that will be streamed live from the Indiana Convention Center. David Hoppe, president of Gen Con, says local game stores are the "heart of the hobby" and the organization wants to help grow the connection with gamers.
Gen Con says more information about participating stores, featured games and attendee registration will be announced in the coming months. Gamers will be able to take part in Pop-Up Gen Con by registering for a small fee.
This year’s Gen Con takes place August 1-4.
