The Westfield City Council has approved a funding plan for the Grand Junction Plaza redevelopment project. Construction on the $37 million effort, which includes three pavilions and an outdoor performance venue, is set to begin this summer.

The plaza will also feature a cafe, trailhead pavilion and a children’s play area.

When Mayor Andy Cook introduced the funding plan last month, he said it is similar to what the city used for Grand Park Sports Campus. The project will be funded with local income tax revenue until funding from the Tax Increment Finance economic development area is able to cover costs. He says the plan will not raise property taxes.
