Indiana University Health has announced Community Health Improvement Grants of nearly $700,000. The funding will be used for projects dealing with behavioral health/substance abuse, tobacco use, infant mortality and obesity.
“The thoughtfulness and collaboration embodied in these grant applications further demonstrate that IU Health is leading the way to solve Indiana’s big health challenges,” said Dennis Murphy, president and chief executive officer of IU Health. “I congratulate the recipients and look forward to seeing solutions that can be rolled out statewide.”
Grant recipients:
- Address Substance Abuse Healthcare Issues – $230,000 over two years to develop and implement the Family Vitality Initiative in IU Health’s South Central region
- Provide Primary Medical & Dental Care for Uninsured Patients – $203,000 over two years to fund Hope Healthcare Services Program first ever nurse practitioner employee in IU Health’s Suburban Indianapolis region
- Reduce Infant Mortality – $124,000 over two years for a new perinatal coordinator to address infant mortality in IU Health’s East Central region
- Mental Health Care – $85,247 over one year for the Continuum of Mental Health Care Program in IU Health’s West Central region
- Prescription Drug Management – $49,000 over four years for the Prescription Drug Take-back Program in IU Health’s East Central region
