Mayor Terry Seitz calls the award an honor and says it is the "culmination of years of vision, planning and execution by hundreds of people."
The chamber cites the city’s manufacturing history and current public-private efforts, among the reasons for the award. Jasper currently has about $200 million in projects underway, including the recently-opened 75-acre Parklands of Jasper central park and the $30 million Jasper River Centre development.
"Strong public-private partnerships are at the cornerstone of community success," Indiana Chamber President Kevin Brinegar said in a news release. "Jasper leaders have demonstrated the ability to work together for many years and residents have strongly contributed through their immense pride in their city. Jasper is most deserving of this recognition."
Jasper joins communities such as Goshen, Fishers, and Carmel, which each won the award over the past three years. The award will be formally presented at the Indiana Chamber’s Annual Awards Dinner in Indianapolis this November.
The chamber also plans to unveil the winners of the Dynamic Leader, Government Leader, and Business Leader of the Year awards over the next three weeks.
