In a notice to the state, Kindred Hospital Northern Indiana in downtown Mishawaka says 117 employees will lose their jobs. The hospital calls it a difficult decision and says the largest share of jobs lost includes registered nurses, respiratory therapists and nursing assistants.
Louisville-based Kindred Healthcare LLC is the hospital’s parent company and it runs more than a dozen hospital, hospice and home care locations throughout Indiana. In July, it opened a rehabilitation hospital in Greenwood in conjunction with Indianapolis-based Community Health Network.
The closing in Mishawaka is expected to begin at the end of September. You can read the full notice to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development by clicking here.
