The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says the company will invest a total of more than $62 million to grow its current Plainfield operation and build a new facility in the River Ridge Commerce Center in Jeffersonville. The investment will create up to 57 jobs by the end of 2019.
Construction on the 469,000-square-foot manufacturing and bottling plant in Jeffersonville is underway. The IEDC says the $56 million project is expected to be complete by next spring. The company is also investing $6.1 million at the Plainfield facility in an effort to expand production capacity.
The entire effort will add 49 jobs in Jeffersonville and eight in Plainfield. Niagara Bottling is currently hiring for production, warehouse, and facility maintenance positions.
"The state of Indiana and local community partners in the Jeffersonville region have provided an extremely warm welcome for Niagara Bottling’s proposed new manufacturing facility," said Brian Hess, executive vice president of Niagara Bottling. "We have been impressed by the region’s progressive workforce development programs and support system, which will benefit our attempts to add area residents to our Niagara team in southern Indiana."
The IEDC has offered Niagara Bottling up to $450,000 in conditional tax credits and $50,000 in training grants in Jeffersonville, as well as up to $50,000 in conditional tax credits in Plainfield. The company will not be eligible to claim any of the incentives until Hoosier workers are hired.
Niagara Bottling has 29 additional locations throughout North America and employs more than 4,000 workers.
