Groundbreaking Coming For New Brown County Concert Venue

Subscribe NowConstruction is slated to begin Tuesday on a new entertainment venue in one of the state’s most well-known tourism locations. Officials in Brown County will break ground on the $12.5 million, 2,000-seat Maple Leaf Performing Arts Center. The project was first announced a year ago and the Brown County Convention and Visitors Bureau and Brown County Convention and Visitors Commission call the funding arrangement to build the venue unique. It will be paid for through the county’s 5 percent innkeepers tax.
Inside INdiana Business Reporter Mary-Rachel Redman will be at the groundbreaking ceremony, which is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday. Officials say it will attract "class act performers" to the community and boost the county’s tourism reputation.
Indianapolis-based Brandt Construction Inc. is the lead builder of the project. The company has also taken worked on high-profile projects in Indiana including the renovations of Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and the Cannelton Cotton Mill in Perry County and transforming the old Bush Stadium in Indianapolis into the Stadium Lofts apartments.
