State Scores ‘A’ in Manufacturing, Logistics Health

Subscribe NowA new study shows employment in the manufacturing sector in Indiana is expanding faster than ever before and the logistics industry is experiencing its second-longest expansion in 50 years. The 2018 Manufacturing and Logistics Report Card, a collaboration between the Ball State University Center for Business and Economic Research and Conexus Indiana, graded states in nine categories and Indiana is one of only five states to receive an "A" overall. Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan and South Carolina were the others to score the top mark.
In individual categories, Indiana received an "A" in Manufacturing Industry Health, Logistics Industry Health, Tax Climate and Global Reach. The state’s grades mirrored last year, aside from a dip to "B-" from "B" for Worker Benefit Costs and to "C" from "B" in Productivity and Innovation.
Conexus Chief Executive Officer Mark Howell says "Indiana remains the premier advanced manufacturing and logistics state in the union, and this year’s scorecard reflects that continued expansion. We are excited that the report indicates our industries are in great health."
