The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County will be investing up to $200,000 in a program to help Muncie Community Schools. The funding will be used to provide professional development and permanent classroom resources to teachers as the school system transitions to the control of Ball State University. 

Ball State president Geoffrey Mearns said, "The Foundation’s investment will benefit teachers and their students and make an impact in classrooms across the Muncie Community Schools. I am inspired by the institutions that are willing to support this historic endeavor to provide an exceptional educational experience for all the children of Muncie, and I am grateful for the generous philanthropic support from the Community Foundation.”

The program will begin during the 2018-2019 academic year. The foundation says it will only be open to teachers at MCS for its first three years.

This program is a continuation of the more than $2 million in grants that the foundation has given to MCS since 1988.
