Rose-Hulman to Dedicate Student Union

Work on the $25 million project took two years to complete with upgrades including expanded student lounge spaces and new outdoor patio and gathering spaces.
The project was led by a $9 million gift from Rose-Hulman alum Mike Mussallem and his wife, Linda. The new student union also features a 120-person dining and meeting space with an expanded dining room for faculty and staff, a coffee/smoothie bar, state-of-the-art spaces for the Office of Career Services and new and refurbished conference rooms.
The facility also features healthy dining options, which the university says was "heavily endorsed" by students.
"We now have a full-fledged union – a place that everyone can call home," said Rose-Hulman President Jim Conwell. "We’re indebted to the support Linda and Mike Mussallem have provided for this project, helping Rose-Hulman meet its long-range goals."
Mike Mussallem is a Gary native who graduated from Rose-Hulman in 1974. He is the chairman and chief executive officer of California-based Edwards Lifesciences and is also a member of the Rose-Hulman Board of Trustees.
