Ball State to Introduce Next AD

During Sandy’s tenure, eight teams won Mid-American Conference league championships or division titles. Three new facilities projects have been completed during his time in Muncie — the Earl Yestingsmeier Golf Center, Ball Diamond at First Merchants Ballpark Complex and the Ron and Joan Venderly Football Center — and another, the Dr. Don Shondell Practice Center, will open this summer for the basketball and volleyball programs.
When he announced his retirement, Sandy said "as Ball State prepares for its Centennial and formulates its next Strategic Plan, it does so with excellent leaders and a bright future. The timing just seemed right for me to make this decision now and provide adequate time for transition to a new director."
He came to Ball State after a decade leader the athletic programs at Eastern Kentucky University. The new athletic director will be introduced during a ceremony Monday at 1 p.m. at the Alumni Center.
