He will succeed Senator David Long, who announced his retirement in February after 12 years in the leadership position. In January, Bray was named majority floor leader following the resignation of Brant Hershman.
Bray has been in the Senate since 2012 and chaired the Judiciary committee and Courts & Juvenile Justice subcommittee in the recently-complete legislative session. He was ranking member of the Corrections & Criminal Law committee and a member of the Insurance & Financial Institutions committee. The Indiana University and Valparaiso University graduate serves as counsel for Morgan County and is an attorney/partner at Bray, Bray and Bray law firm.
Governor Eric Holcomb says "Rod Bray is a strong selection to lead the Indiana Senate. He’s smart, disciplined, well-respected and a good listener. He brings both the experience and insight necessary to become the next great leader of the Senate. I look forward to working with him in the years ahead."
