Oklahoma-based Alliance Resource Partners LP said last month it will invest $16.5 million to bring two mining units at the Gibson North mine back into production.
The mine was previously operated by Gibson County Coal LLC which announced in November 2015 it was idling production at the mine. The decision led to the layoffs of 130 employees.
Alliance Resource Partners did not state when the mine would officially reopen or how many workers would be hired.
