‘Best Places’ in Indiana Reaches Record

A record 125 companies are being honored this year and more than 50 are first-timers or returning after a year or more off the list. Employers in over two dozen communities are represented and the chamber will unveil the rankings of the Best Places honorees during a May 3 awards dinner at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis.
During an interview with Inside INdiana Business, Senior Vice President of Communications and Operations Tom Schuman said companies report multiple benefits from earning the distinction. "We’ve gotten feedback from companies that have been on the list where they’ve brought in high-quality applicants who said ‘I narrowed my search down to only apply for my job — my first job or my next job — to Best Places to Work companies," Schuman said. "So it’s a tremendous attractionary tool to help bring in those talented young people." He added participants receive feedback directly from employees that can be put to use in retaining or finding the best workers.
Multiple winners this year are from Bloomington, Carmel, Fishers, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Lafayette/West Lafayette, Lake County, Michigan City, Muncie, Noblesville and Porter County. Winners are classified into four categories based on the size of their workforce. The 2018 honorees are:
