The store is set to close to the public February 28 and the employees will be terminated effective April 13. The layoffs are expected to be permanent, however Walmart says the affected employees will have the opportunity to apply for open positions at other Walmart or Sam’s Club locations.
The city of Rushville first announced the closure Thursday on Facebook. Walmart reportedly told the city it wasn’t going to renew its lease for the store because it is an "older, smaller store that was underperforming."
