Kenzie Academy, located at the Speakeasy Downtown, says the tech-focused curriculum for the initial group of 18 students will put an emphasis on networking and paid projects as consultants for employers.
Kenzie Academy was founded by agility.io Chief Executive Officer Chok Ooi, Galvanize co-founder Rehan Hasan and Students of the World founder Courtney Spence. The school says it also has backing from Google (Nasdaq: GOOGL), Twitter Inc. (NYSE: TWTR) and Instagram.
In an October interview with Inside INdiana Business Multi-media Journalist Mary-Rachel Redman, Ooi said Kenzie Academy students work under mentors who guide their projects, which could be with local companies or with partners from throughout the United States. He says the academy’s goal is to "supercharge" what is already a "vibrant and emerging technical system" in Indiana.
