Holiday World Details $3.5M Investment

Plans include new children’s water slides and wave pool facilities to be named Tembo Falls and Tembo Tides. The travel destination says the slate of additions and upgrades will be in play for the 2018 season, which opens in May.
Holiday World says the investment will also cover a themed maze for Halloween, new stunt show, strolling brass band and other entertainment, track improvements for its famed wooden roller coaster The Voyage, mini "Riverside Retreats" cabanas in Splashin’ Safari and charging stations for electric vehicles.
Tembo Falls will include eight new slides and in addition to a wave pool designed for kids under 54 inches tall, Tembo Tides will have spray features. Park President says the water-play area will be elephant themed, using Tembo, the Swahili word for the large animal.
2016 marked the southwest Indiana attraction’s 70th anniversary. In 2015, it opened the Thunderbird, a $22 million "launched wing" roller coaster. Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari invested $8 million into improvements in 2014, the most prominent of which was the Mayflower a 60-person ride for families that swings over a large pool.
