In early October, the city of Indianapolis announced it would be the first city in the state to take the fight against opioid manufacturers and distributors to the legal system.
Gahan said in a statement "we all need to be more active in learning about what we can do to prevent opioid addiction." The city has also applied for a Bloomberg Philanthropies Mayor’s Challenge Grant, which emphasizes the need for early education on the adverse effects of opioids and what communities can do to join the fight.
