The Brickley Site, being developed by the Huntington County Economic Development Corp., has been deemed Indiana Site Certified Prime.
The designation certifies that a site is ready for economic development and receiving "prime" status comes with several specific requirements. A site must have at least 30 contiguous acres, be located no more than 2.5 miles from a state highway, and an archaeological investigation must be completed. Also, the property must be owned by a local unit of government or organization such as the HCEDC.
The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs says the Brickley Site, located off Interstate 69 and U.S. 24, could be used for warehousing, light manufacturing, or heavy manufacturing. Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch and OCRA officials announced the designation at the site this week.
"We recognize that a lot of time, energy, and collaboration goes into earning the Indiana Site Certified designation, especially Prime," said OCRA Executive Director Jodi Golden. "I commend the Huntington County Economic Development Corporation and their local partners for working together to make the Brickley property ready for development, which will be a great asset to the local community for years to come."
