The university has set up public forums for each candidate, which will take place over the next month.
Carwein announced in April her plans to retire by the end of the year after leading IPFW since 2012. The first public forum, set for Carl Drummond, who currently serves as vice chancellor for academic affairs and enrollment management at IPFW, took place Tuesday morning.
The remaining candidates include:
- Dan Hirleman, chief corporate and global partnerships officer for Purdue University. His public forum is scheduled for Friday at 10:00 a.m.
- Martin Abraham, provost and vice-president for academic affairs for Youngstown State University. His public forum is scheduled for August 7 at 10:00 a.m.
- Ronald Elsenbaumer, interim provost and vice president for academic affairs and senior advisor to the president for entrepreneurship and economic development at the University of Texas at Arlington. His public forum will take place August 22 at 10 a.m.
At the time of Carwein’s retirement announcement, Purdue University President Mitch Daniels said he hoped to have a successor in place ahead of the 2017-2018 academic year. The person selected for the position will oversee the university’s realignment, which was finalized last month.
