Our partners at WPTA-TV in Fort Wayne report Multimatic Inc. could bring 170 jobs to the Allen County city. Mayor Terry McDonald says the company is "in process and they are in the building," but says official paperwork has not yet been filed.
Vera Bradley closed the New Haven plant about two years ago. At the time, 250 workers were employed there. WPTA-TV reports a current manager in the facility says the investment could total between $25 million and $40 million and that Multimatic equipment is already being installed.
McDonald says "that building just sells itself. It’s a perfect location, Multimatic is going to be very happy there and we’re very happy to have them there in the community. Good auto parts manufacturer and somebody that’s going to be bringing some good quality jobs to the community, as well, too."
Multimatic also has a facility in Butler in nearby DeKalb County.
