Marsh Bankruptcy Sale Attracts ‘Numerous Bidders’

Subscribe NowThe Wednesday deadline to accept potential buyout bids for Indianapolis-based Marsh Supermarkets has passed and a spokesman for the financially-strapped grocery chain says "numerous bidders" made offers. The company and its advisors are not providing any details about the offers or revealing the identity of any bidder.
A statement from Tom Mulligan, a spokesman for Marsh who is based in New York, reads:
Qualifying bids have been received from numerous bidders. The Company, its advisors and the Creditors Committee are evaluating the bids.
The company has also released a series of financial statements detailing liabilities and assets of its full slate of grocery, real estate and distribution subsidiaries, as well as its intellectual property. There are 44 current Marsh locations. The company filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection in May. Marsh has said it would be forced to close all remaining stores if a buyer is not located and June 12 is the scheduled auction date for any qualified bidders.
