The terminal at Evansville Regional Airport is slated for a major renovation. Executive Director Doug Joest tells Inside INdiana Business the more than $12 million redesign will include an addition to the terminal, outdoor improvements and security enhancements.

The airport plans to begin the first phase of the renovation this summer, according to the Evansville Courier & Press. It will include the new addition, which will house administrative offices and a boardroom. The second phase will feature the outdoor improvements, such as new paving, LED lighting and three new canopies in front of the terminal.

The publication reports the third phase is expected to take the longest to complete. In addition to having one centralized security screening area, the airport will also have food service available after passengers clear security, in addition to a children’s play area, family restrooms and a nursing room.

The Evansville Airport Authority Board of Directors has approved a $10 million loan for the project. The publication reports $5 million in Regional Cities Initiative funding will also go toward the renovation.
