Linda McMahon, former chief executive officer of World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. (NYSE: WWE), Wednesday made central Indiana one of five stops on a tour of U.S. cities during National Small Business Week. In her new role with the Trump administration, she hopes to partner with businesses to "revitalize that spirit of entrepreneurship," which she says has been dampened in recent years by regulations on lenders. During a visit to Main Street in Speedway, McMahon says the district offers examples of the types of businesses the SBA can assist.
"I wish the rest of the country could see all of this, but it’s not really just unique to Speedway or to Indiana," she told Inside INdiana Business. "There are many small businesses around the country who are starting different endeavors. Look at all of the little craft breweries that are popping up everywhere. It’s great and to see different kinds of businesses starting and growing. The tech industry, home services, just many businesses that start small. Often the CEO is the janitor and the CEO and the book keeper and every other thing."
McMahon calls small businesses "the engine" and "the backbone" of the economy and says the SBA offers advisory services that can often be as beneficial as access to capital. In addition to touring the district, McMahon also met with members of the district office, local officials and business leaders throughout central Indiana and described some of her vision for the SBA, which includes refining the organization’s brand.
