Meijer Opens Two Central Indiana Stores

Michigan-based Meijer Inc. will cut the ribbon Tuesday on two new stores in McCordsville and Franklin. The stores, which will create approximately 600 jobs, are two of the seven new locations Meijer plans to open this year in Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin.

Meijer has invested nearly $50 million to build the supercenters. Meijer Regional Vice President Maureen Mitchell says the new stores "reinforce our commitment to serving the needs of families."

The new stores are part of a more than $375 million effort which includes the remodeling of 22 existing stores as well. The company says most of its 15 stores in the greater Indianapolis area are either new or have been remodeled in the last few years. The Meijer on East 96th Street in Indianapolis is currently undergoing remodeling, which is expected to be complete this summer. 

"These new stores and remodels in Indiana represent a continued investment in our customers, team members and the local communities that have supported us for so long," said Mitchell.
