The student engagement platform provider says it will grow its operations in downtown Indianapolis and create up to 31 jobs by 2019. The company, which is a spinoff of venture studio High Alpha, attracted a $1.25 million round of funding earlier this year and recently announced a three-year partnership with Butler University. Chief Executive Officer Jason Konesco says the company is "bullish on the feedback we are receiving."
ClearScholar currently employs 11 full-time associates. The company plans to hire for sales and customer service positions throughout the year. The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says the positions are expected to pay an average salary nearly 60 percent higher than the state’s average wage.
The company says its platform aims to help students and institutions "build, retain and grow lifelong relationships." It includes a mobile student ID and customized events, news and activities that align with individual student needs and interests. The January funding round included High Alpha, Elevate Ventures, Butler University and Cindy and Paul Skjodt.
The IEDC has offered ClearScholar more than $350,000 in conditional tax credits and training grants based on the job creation plans. The city of Indianapolis and the Indy Chamber’s Develop Indy unit are also supporting the project.
