Ellis says the company, which makes plastic packaging, is consolidating operations to another plant. Buckhorn has another manufacturing facility in Springfield, Missouri, according to the company’s website.
"It was sudden and it was a shock to our system," Ellis told WPTA. "We’ve been through plant closures before. A lot of times you can see them coming, this one we just didn’t see coming. When I asked management if there was something we could have done, or could do to keep them here, they said no. That was a decision made elsewhere and we’re just at their mercy."
Ellis says employees were told of the decision Monday. The company has not released any information regarding a specific date when employees would be let go.
