Hupfer currently serves as the party’s fifth congressional district chairman and previously served as treasurer for Eric Holcomb’s gubernatorial campaign.
Hupfer is the chief administrative officer and general counsel for Westfield-based Indiana Mills & Manufacturing Inc. The Republican Party says Hupfer will remain in his current position in the fifth district until the party’s scheduled reorganization process next month.
"My team and I have been working with stakeholders around Indiana every day of this transition period to develop a comprehensive plan to provide value to our candidates, elected officials, supporters and constituents," said Hupfer. "That includes enhanced training, better internal communication and coordination and improved messaging all aimed at preparing us to both maintain our hold of statewide offices, and most importantly, defeat Joe Donnelly in 2018."
Holcomb, who recommended Hupfer for the position, says he will be a "focused and passionate advocate for Republican candidates."
Hupfer succeeds Jeff Cardwell, who announced his resignation in December. Hupfer also previously served as director of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources under former Governor Mitch Daniels.
