The company established its current location in Marion County seven years ago. Plans for the new $5 million home office include additional retail, business and restaurant space. Mayor Jim Brainard says the property on Pennsylvania Avenue "has the potential to be a landmark." In an interview with Inside INdiana Business, he said it takes a long-term, global approach to secure headquarters.
Brainard says, next to downtown Indianapolis, Carmel has the second-largest concentration of office buildings in the state. He says the pitch to potential locators involves discussions about more than just his city. "We have a national and international marketing campaign that we’ve been conducting for several years to tell the story of not just Carmel, but Indiana, the business climate and the quality of life in our city and Indianapolis. Because certainly in the world we have to talk as much about central Indiana, southern Indiana and northern Indiana as we do Carmel." He says, by nature, Hoosiers don’t like to brag about themselves, but "we have a lot to talk about here," so it’s the job of his administration to let decision makers in the business community know about the city and the region.
Encore Sotheby’s International Realty Founding Principal Mark Zukerman says the new location is "super-accessible" to communities where the company does business: northern Indianapolis, Zionsville, Fishers and the rest of Hamilton County. Zukerman, who is a Carmel resident, says the city is "naturally attracting luxury brands to come to this marketplace." He says his company has the highest average sale price among local brokerage companies in the Indianapolis market, so being in Carmel will serve as an attractive feature for its target clientele.
Construction is slated to get underway in the beginning of the year and Zukerman says it could be complete in the fourth quarter of the year.
